Last week I bought two swordtails, a male and a female. They get the run of the tank, while Snowball the betta gets an isolation tank and daily “free swim” with the filter off. I came to put Snowball away and thought the rank had been infiltrated by bugs! But no, it’s swordtail fry! I scooped out as many as I could, since the filter will pummel any left to its “mercy.”
Eek! I’m a new fish-mom!

Hooray! Babies! I used to hope and hope that my swordtails would reproduce when I was a kid. No luck with them, unfortunately. Just lots and lots of guppies. Congratulations on your expanded fish family!
So,…are you looking for some swordtails? When these babies mature, my tiny tank will be over-swum with fishes…

Oh, I wish! Unfortunately, I have no tank these days. You’ll have to start a side business as fish farmer. 🙂
