I’m over the moon. Danielle Day reads my the first half of my story on the Cast of Wonders podcast site. She does a wonderful job, too, putting life in Sylvie and her Aunt Rosemarie!
If you’re wondering, the Goblin King’s looks were based on toads that I used to see at my sister’s house, way out in the country, when I was little. They were ugly at first, but compellingly beautiful, too. Especially their eyes.
The story itself came to me a few years ago, as I was walking the dog near our home, on streets lined in trees and pooled in blackness. As Halloween approached, I wondered if the rustlings and motions in the night were goblins, checking out the neighborhood. And if I didn’t believe I saw them, would they stay away?
I hope you enjoy the story!
Does having your name illuminated on a smart phone count as the 20th century equivalent of having your name in lights on a marque ? Doesn’t matter, congrats!
(laughs) Thanks! But husband dear, you’re showing your age; this is the 21st century, not the 20th. 🙂
Hurrah! I downloaded the podcast and will enjoy listening to your story on my iPod. WONDERFUL! I am so happy for you!
Thanks Akemi! I hope you enjoy the first half, and go back for the second. Happy listening.
Ooh, cliffhanger! 😀 I’ve never wondered about the if-you-ignore-them-will-they-go-away issue–I guess I always assumed that not believing in the wicked things was the same as plugging your ears and saying “LA LA LA” if someone was trying to mug you. Prooobably not very effective, haha!
Yeah, I guess I should’ve said “the first half of my story” is now at Cast of Wonders. As for the plugging your ears … Come back next week to hear the exciting conclusion, and see how I viewed this ‘ignore it’ concept. 😛
